This is a portrait of a young woman wearing a baroque yellow shimmering dress and lace collar. She is sitting, her face facing the light.

This series was inspired by Baroque and Renaissance paintings with a strong emphasis on light and shadows (Clair-obscure) to let the portrait stand out. This is the polished version of the woman with the bewildered look, she is officially playing along the convention of being a woman in the 17th century.

This image is part of the Women in Quiet Rebellion, giving a voice to the women throughout history who could not use their own. It shows how they rebelled against their limited societal place, learning to move slowly and quietly, like a butterfly, creating a snowball effect with their inner strength. Using the paintings of Artemisia Gentileschi as inspiration, this image reflects a timeless desire to be free and independent and to finally find that powerful voice that society has suppressed for so long.
