In this post, I share A Photographer’s Tale of Work and Life.
I’m sitting on a fast train whizzing through the Provence landscape, travelling to my parents’ house in Alsace; I haven’t seen my parents and kids since the end of August, and it feels like six months, at least.
I’m glad to say that after six weeks of desperate attempts to get noticed by estate agents in Marseille, I finally found a permanent place to live; it was even weird to discover that the owner of the flat lives in London. I’m wondering? Is this a sign that I’m in the wrong place? Yeah, I do wander, but I also have to tell you that since I’ve arrived in the region, I’ve hardly seen a grey sky, and honestly, London can’t compete with that.
So I’m in this new life, combining a full-time job and trying to find some time for creativity to continue my photography projects. Yes, how do you keep going? You need determination and a lot of stamina to handle everything because, to be honest, it’s easy to say sod it. I do it another day because you are just too tired. I get the feeling!
With the stressful move, my photography needs to be addressed. However, I still plan a weekly trip to a local destination, hiking with my camera to document this fantastic region I live in.
You could think that’s easy for you, you’re a teacher, but don’t be fooled, being a teacher is like being an entrepreneur; the job is never finished when you come home, with more classes to prepare, corrections and communication with the parents. While all I want to do when I come home is to work on my photography, I have to discipline myself, not procrastinate and do the work for the job that pays the bills.
So, how do I manage to keep going? I started a savings account for my next photography trip to continue my Joyful Journey art series by visiting more cities. I document with my camera wherever I go, and I’m planning trips to the Cote D’Azur and the Provence region, so I can’t write more photo journals for you.
I’m living my ideal life, and I want to encourage you to do the same. I’m a photographer and artist first, and I’m lucky to have this passion that drives me to keep creating. I’ve learned that embracing creativity is not just a hobby, but a way of life. It’s what keeps me going, and I believe it can do the same for you.
Moving to a new region has been a revelation. It’s like seeing the world with the eyes of a child again. I’ve discovered that maintaining a sense of wonder is key to finding inspiration in everyday life. I invite you to do the same, whether you move or not. Rediscover the place you live in with fresh eyes. It’s amazing what you can find when you look at things from a different perspective.
The simple explanation is that everything is a novelty as a child, and time seems to extend. It’s the same when we travel somewhere. Going there for the first time always takes much longer than going back. When we discover new things and places, time seems to slow down.
Travelling on this journey, I’ve seen so many gorgeous places that I had never noticed before. It’s a joy to rediscover your surroundings like you’re visiting for the first time. I invite you to do the same this week. Let the excitement of discovery fill your heart as you explore your familiar surroundings with fresh eyes.
As I continue to explore the enchanting regions of Provence and Alsace, I am reminded that beauty and inspiration can be found everywhere – even in the places we call home. My journey has taught me that maintaining a sense of wonder and curiosity is essential for nurturing creativity and finding balance in life. Embrace the spirit of a child, and allow yourself to be captivated by the novelty of your surroundings. Pick up your camera, lace up your hiking boots, and embark on your joyful journey. Rediscover the world around you, one frame at a time. Remember, every day is an opportunity to see something new, learn, and grow. So, keep exploring, creating, and, most importantly, finding joy in the journey.
